Update.
I recently bought, via my Kindle, this book:

As I started to read the book, I quickly realized that I needed to watch the movie if I were to understand the nuances in the book. But I decided that since the movie was based on Truman Capote's novella, I should read the novella first. I am glad that did do that. Capote's book was unbelievably good and the movie was different in so many ways. I am not that sure that I liked the movie, not after having read the book. The book was a character study about a woman who did what she thought she needed to do to survive. Born into a "hillbilly'" family, she was the one to whom it feel to keep herself and her "slow" brother alive. She got married a14 and fled that life at 15. Reinvented herself as starlet, only to fled that life style and live as "hooker" in NYC. Her friendship with the narrator, who happens to be gay, is the crux of the story.

The movie, which was made during the 1960s when the sexual freedom has not yet hit our culture, had to sugar coat the main protagonists' (Holly Golightly) profession, as well as the narrator's sexual preference. Ms. Holly was portrayed as a party girl and her friend as a heterosexual gigolo. The movie is worth watching, if for nothing else, but to see the famous "little black dress" and Ms. Hepburn's great performance.

I'm dying to read this book and hoping that the local library will have it on the shelf. Sometimes the Wakefield library is mega chock full o'fail. I've read so many reviews and excerpts that I want to read it RIGHT NOW!!!

Ah, that's what the Kindle's for: instant gratification. I bought the book on a whim at 2 am.

Did you read Capote's novella or see the movie? You definitely should see the movie to grasp the nuances of the book.

Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando.

I've seen the movie, yes. I'm trying to cut back on my costs so I've been library'ing when possible. I did have to buy a hardcover book a few weeks back as it was just something too random for Wakefield's library.

I'm not going to be at Infinitus so please give Meghan an extra squashy hug for me!
