Quick Update on Mom
I came home from water aerobics last night (around 8 pm) to find mom with a bandage around her hand. All I could get out of her was that Dudley and Cocoa had an altercation and mom's hand was bitten, as she said, down to the bone. (Mom loves to dramatize.) As a precaution, I took her to the emergency room. While on route, she told me that it was a good thing she had eaten all her food because then the dogs would have had more of it. Then and there, I knew what happened.

Mom has an awful habit of having all her meals on her chair in the living room. The dogs just sit around her and salivate. Inevitably, to shoo them away, mom throws a morsel here and there to them. She cannot understand that by throwing the morsel, she is encouraging the bad behavior of sitting around her and begging. She keeps telling me that, by throwing the morsels she is teaching them that once the food is thrown, they should leave her alone. They have never left her yet—she claims that they are too dumb to learn. Yeah, they are not dumb. They know that by sticking around, food will miraculously appear.

Anyway, tonight, the dogs fought over the morsel that was in mom's hand. Lucky for her, it was a superficial tear of her skin. No stitches were needed. All she needed was some antiseptic, antibiotics, and a tetanus shot. We are back home, and all is well. Mom promised never to eat in her living room chair again. We'll see....

Wow. I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious. Down to the bone. LOL And, yeah, throwing them food is only keeping them around!

I'm glad to read that after all it's superficial!

My cats are just like this--give them an inch and they'll take a mile. So, they only get snacks if they're sitting in one of their snack appropriate location.

I'm glad she's okay!

Wow, I'm glad it wasn't more serious. She really should be more careful, but she does seem the stubborn type.
