Book Meme—Stolen from katje0711
01. Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?

I tend to read while I'm riding the commuter train or working out at the gym. So, the answer is no.

02. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?

When I'm reading a printed book, I don't mark it at all. I tend to think of books as sacred vessels of knowledge, so marking it is akin to graffiti as far as I'm concerned. However, I now tend to favor eBooks. I own a Kindle and absolutely love it. The beauty of owning a Kindle is that it has a note marking feature, and not only can you make notes of your own, but you can read the notes of others who read the same eBook as you.

03. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?

In a printed book, I use a bookmark. The Kindle has a bookmark function, or, at times, I just put the screensaver on, and my place is saved.

04. Fiction, Nonfiction, or both?

I prefer nonfriction. But currently, I'm reading a fiction book.

05. Hard copy or audiobooks?

I prefer to read. But I have used audiobooks when I used to drive to my office.

06. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?

I prefer to read to the end of the book. However, as I read on the commuter train, sometimes I have to end my reading whenever I reach my destination. As soon as I can, though, I finish the chapter in the office during a break Official or not :-])

07. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Write it down to look it up later? Just try to infer what it means from the rest of the sentence, and keep going?

As I read by using a Kindle, I can look up the word immediately. The Kindle has a built-in dictionary.

08. What are you currently reading?

I'm reading the Twilight series. (Just as an aside, I am suffering as I am reading this series. I don't like it. But I promised someone that I will read it.)

09. What is the last book you bought?

The Hangman's Daughter by
Oliver Pötzsch and The Memory Palace by Mira Bartok (One fiction and one memoir)

10. Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can read more than one at a time?

Yes, I often read 2 or 3 books at once. I just finished two books while still reading the Twilight series.

11. Do you like re-reading books?

Not really, unless it is an amazing book like the Harry Potter series.

I think you are the third person to 'steal' this from me. Woo hoo!

I think it's really cool you can write notes on the kindle and share them with other readers!

LOL @ #8. Who did you promise and why?

I promised that I'd read it to Abbie. We both think it is the worst book written ever. But, unlike Abbie, I suffer when I read a bad book. Abbie just laughs at it. But I did promise her that I'd read it so that we could compare our thoughts.

And that is why I read more than one book at a time.

Thanks.

You couldn't wrestle my Kindle away from me now that I've gotten used to it :)

You're braver than me to tangle with those Twilight books. I had a twenty-something coworker summarize the whole series for me in about fifteen minutes. That was enough for me!

Isn't amazing how reading a Kindle is so addictive?

After reading 60% of the book, I finally got to the minimal plot. This book would have been a better story if the author would ditch the love story.
