Patrick Undergoes an Ultrasound Procedure
Starving animals will try to eat anything to quench the hunger pains. An obstruction was found in Patrick’s digestive system, suggesting that he has swallowed something during the time he was living with his tormentor. Today, he underwent an ultrasound procedure wherein they tried to locate the obstruction. I guess Patrick is getting strong enough that the hospital is thinking about removing the object. What I am amazed at the video that follows is how trusting this animal is. After all the abuse he went through, he still trusts the people who are taking care of him. Ultrasound procedures don’t really hurt, but many times they are a bit uncomfortable. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it was for him, since he has no fatty tissue to bear the brunt of the pushing and shoving, however gentle, of the ultrasound probing device. He must sense that he is in good and caring hands. GSVS I salute you for your hard work in restoring this fragile pup to health.

This is what the hospital is saying about him:

Patrick was very calm during his ultrasound today and required no anesthesia. He seemed to be watching the ultrasound screen at one point. There is no change in his condition and something still remains in his stomach. Although Patrick is acting like a real dog today, he is still weak and will take weeks to recover.

Patrick is romping around the ICU today. He is still too weak to go outside for a full walk outside but he does go out sometimes to enjoy the sunshine on his face for a few minutes .
It is hard but we have to be patient, every day Patrick demonstrates little ways in which his condition has improved. He is wagging his tail and investigating the hospital a bit. His coat is a shiny red, more evidence that he is becoming healthier.

Patrick really enjoys his food. We have to take things slowly since his body can only take so much at a time.

And now for something really disgusting:

They must be some pretty amazing people for him to feel that comfortable. Hoover only suffered very mild abuse prior to him coming to live with me and he loves the vets because it means more people to fuss him, but even he would not be that relaxed. Also, it took me over a year for Hoover to feel comfortable with me looming over his head during cuddles etc (he now lets me completely wrap my arms around him and rest my head gently on his head as we have snuggles to which he usually begins sucking my clothing under my armpits), so to willingly put himself in such a "vunerable" position, shows just how trusting he is

That's so wonderful.
