A Prairie Home Companion—May 29, 2010
I went to see the actual live show of the "A Prairie Home Companion" on May 29, 2010 at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park. It was, as usual, an amazing experience. Garrison Keillor, as always, was entertaining, funny, and wonderful to listen to. His guests, in addition to those he had on the Friday night rehearsal show Inga Swearingen and Tom Rush), were Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings Machine. For the show warm-up, Garrison sang "Too Far Gone," a beautiful song originally done by EmmyLou Harris. Anyway, as he was singing his song, just as on Friday, he left the stage to go and sing for the lawn audience. It was interesting to see this song being performed. On stage, Inga was doing the harmonies and off to our backs, we could hear Garrison. He was "too far gone." LOL. I did find a rendition of this song that he made way back in 2008. I used it to show off a slide show of the photos I took while he was performing. Here's the slide show for your enjoyment:

You will notice in the pictures that sun descends on the actors. It gave a nice effect on the photos. Garrison tighten up the skits and miraculously, even by adding two more guests to the line up and increasing the "News from Lake Wobegon" segment , he managed to give a 2-hour fun-filled entertainment. After the show, I got to meet and talk to him once again. This time, he actually said that he remembered me. He told me that my curly hair was the give-away. Even if he was lying, which I am sure that he was, it was a sweet lie.

If you are interested, you can hear the show. I am sorry that I can't stop the damn thing from going on as soon as the page loads.

Sounds like another great time! Some time when I have more time, I'd like to listen to the entire production.
