Fixing LJ's new "connect" twitter/facebook thing
Originally posted by txvoodoo at Fixing LJ's new "connect" twitter/facebook thing
If you don't like LJ's new "share on fb/twitter" thing after comments etc, (see latest news post), there's a Firefox* solution via Greasemonkey: "Disconnect for Greasemonkey"

*Apparently, greasemonkey scripts from userscripts.org can be used by Chrome via Chromium - see here for more info.

ETA: this script was created by daluci

Son of ETA: If you use Safari, check out this link on how to use Greasemonkey scripts w/ safari. (Here's a SIMPLE tutorial on how to install and use it)

Ooh, just what I was hoping for! That was a quick fix!

Glad to help.

And, of course, I have no friggin idea how to make heads or tails of that. Typical.

Do you, at least, understand what the post is about?

Of course, I do. It's what it says, to remove the FB/Twitter thing at the end of comments. Julie explained I have to run that greasemonkey program to do it. Why can't LJ just make things simple by allowing us to click on a button to opt out? So typical.

By the way, why 'son of ETA' and not 'daughter'? LOL

I don't know why "son." That was something txvoodoo made up.

I, personally, couldn't care less whether that button is there. The greasemonkey script removes the possibility of me not seeing it, but not the possibility of others who opt to see it not to see it. So in essence, they still can publish my stuff on their FB.

I like it. LOL

Which is BS. Why should other people be able to post your stuff? Ugh.

I agree with you 100%. Of course, they could always use the old-fashioned method: copy/paste

I thought of that. lol But why are they doing it this way? It's like saying, "Lookie! Lookie, right here. You can pass along your friend's posts?" In case you hadn't already considered doing it. Ugh.

I love Greasemonkey. It can fix anything, I swear.
