My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I don't know how this book wound up on my Kindle. Usually I buy books for my Kindle either because it was highly recommended or I read a good review. I have downloaded a few because they were cheap, $1.99 to $3.99. I think this book falls in the cheap case. It had an interesting premise. But I feel that the author couldn't decide whether to write a book about the supernatural or just a book about people's superstitious feelings about the supernatural. Neither aspect came across strongly. I finished the book not knowing one thing about the actual story. Did something really happen? Was there such a thing as a witch? Was there a murder, or did a person just manage to disappear. I truly didn't understand where the author was heading. And, then throwing in a homosexual father when there were no signs ever given that the protagonist even fought the concept that the was a homosexual was, in my opinion, thrown in to keep up the appearance that the author was up to date with today's norm of acceptance.
All in all, I didn't like it.
