Dead Like Me—Revisited

I decided to rewatch the entire two seasons of Dead Like Me episodes and also watch the made-for-DVD movie followup (which I failed to finish the first time around).

I was not disappointed. This Showtime series was amazingly good. I don't know why it was never renewed past two seasons. I totally could empathize with the characters. The stories were so enticing. I never had enough. It was akin to LOST. The characters and the stories were just perfect. For some reason, I missed the last episode of Season 2 when I watched it for the first time. And, frankly, I think they should have stopped it there. The final episode was a good episode as a final ending. Sadly, they made the movie that never had theatre showing, as it went straight to DVD. Now, if you never saw the series, perhaps you could enjoy the movie. But, I, who saw the series found the movie abysmal. Granted that it had LOST alumni, Henry Ian Cusik of LOST, so for the Desmond fans, there was some eye candy to watch. However, I missed Rube Sofer as the leader. Mandy Patinkin was so great in that role. But they gave a good reason for his absence. They should have shelved the Daisy Adair character and perhaps substitute her with someone else. The actress who portrayed Daisy was pathetic as Daisy. She was totally miscast. If you can get on Netflix, try to watch the two seasons of the show. You will be happily entertained.

I hope you watch it soon because (a) I am quite sure that you will like it, as the show is just AWESOME and (b) I'd like to see what you think of the movie after you saw the series.

I'll try to watch it soon. I have already seen the movie, though.

The movie, to put in good English, SUCKS! Ask anyone who has seen both. Not until you see the whole series, do you understand the cult behind the series.

Yes, you've made it abundantly clear you hated the movie. I thought it was okay.

I'm not the only one who hated the movie. If you go to youtube and look at all the Dead Like Me postings, you will read people complaining how bad the movie was. Also, the first commentator augrah commented how the movie was not the greatest. You haven't seen the series to compare it with the movie. It's like reading a good book and then seeing it destroyed by the movie version. People who haven't read the book, but seen the movie may not know what they were really missing.

Good grief. Is it really that important I hate the freaking movie?

I think that you really don't know what you are missing, that's all! There were 250+ reviews of this movie on Amazon.com. At least 245 said that they hated it and the others haven't seen it so, they gave it 5 stars to encourage season 3 of the series (which never materialized). I find it amazing that so many people hated the movie.

I'm not missing anything! I never said I wasn't going to watch the series. And I'm not going to read a bunch of messages from people that hated the movie. I liked it fine and don't need to be convinced otherwise.
